Designed With A Purpose
Each divider set comes with 12 dividers in 4 varying lengths (4 length, 4 width, 3 risers and 1 buffer). See below for details on their functions and how to best utilize them in your boxes.
There is no right or wrong way to assemble the dividers, for each item and gift box is unique. We do recommend to assemble outside of the box. It makes it easier to play around and test your layout.
If you want to support the 4 corners and not have them cave in when wrapping, place 2 length & 2 width pieces on the ends (last notch closest to the ends). Slide the notch from the length piece into the notch on the width piece to create a flush intersection. The side with the living hinge is a longer distance to the end, so keep all of those on the same end of the box.
Assemble the remaining support pieces directly around your item. Boxes can be assembled horizontal or vertical.
Shorter shirt box?
Some store bought shirt boxes are shorter than the 15" ones we use. The long pieces have a hinge that you can fold in to fit some of these boxes. It is not going to fit every shirt box out there, but this gives you options.
If you want a guaranteed fit, we suggest to purchase the complete sets that include a shirt box.
Extra space around your gift that you want to fill? Use the buffer pieces to stop movement. Cut along the score lines to create 8 individual buffer pieces. Each piece has a small side and one slightly larger (choose which fits best). Slide in the notch around your item either from the top or bottom (depending on your layout). This will stop the shakers in your family from guessing and helps when mailing a package. The buffer strip can also be used as a shorter divider if kept whole.
Use Risers to Lift
The riser pieces lift shallow items such as a DVD, video game, gift card or thin jewelry box. Place the risers under the shallow item and it will keep it raised, eliminating lots of movement inside the box. They slide into the grooves of the width pieces to hold them in place. You could also put a big puffy bow on top of your item to stop movement.
