Show Your People How Much You Care On Valentine's Day

Yes, the Holidays have "wrapped up", but as we all know, gift-giving is a year-round occasion.  Our next big holiday is just under a month away...Valentine's Day & Galentine's Day (Feb 13).

Oh my goodness, I get very excited about all the fun Valentine's gifts you can make for your people.  Valentine's Day is all about expressing LOVE.  It's the small things that truly matter.  It does not need to be a big statement, doing something small for someone can go a long way.  I have so many ideas to share with you.  Let's first start with jewelry.

Did you know that Americans spend $6.2 billion on jewelry for Valentine’s Day?  This includes gifts for a teenage daughter.  That is a lot of bling.  BUT, the problem is that the shape of a jewelry box is very recognizable, ruining the surprise.

It is so easy to disguise a jewelry box using these engineered dividers.  Disguise The Surprise is a set of 12 reusable dividers used for packaging boxes.  They simply slide around the small jewelry box on all sides holding it in place.  You only need 4 dividers to do this (2 length & 2 width).  It will work for any shaped jewelry box.  Now, if you have a really thin/shallow box, you can use the riser dividers underneath to lift it up to minimize movement.  You could also put a puffy bow on top.  Depending on where you get the jewelry, the box size and depth will vary.  I placed a fake rose on the ends of the bracelet box to cover the riser dividers, and because it looks nice.  Every girl knows what's inside those small boxes...take that small extra step to truly make it a surprise.  When she lifts the lid and sees what's inside, the reaction is priceless!

Jewelry + Items

Another option is to add more items to your jewelry gift.  The box below has a bracelet in the top left section, but I added more fun Valentine's themed gifts to create a full box of goodies.  This would be a great box for your teenage daughter, or even mom!  Maybe your daughter is working hard and a bit stressed in school.  We all know "mom" really does nothing for herself.  A box like this would brighten someone's day!

Chocolate and candy are always a welcome addition.  Hershey's kisses are a perfect way to line the small outer sections if needed (Palmers also makes chocolate hearts).  Every store these days seems to carry Valentine's items.  Any big box store, local boutique, online, drug store, even your local grocery store has fun items.  Adding a pair of comfy socks is always a go-to gift for me to include.  Click here to watch a time lapse video of a box similar to this one

 Spouse - Boyfriend - Partner

Looking for a unique gift idea for your spouse - boyfriend - partner?  Put together a box like the one below and it will be a big hit.  Do you prefer to stay in for the night and avoid the crowded restaurants?  This box mixes gift items, along with a theme.  Plan out a special dinner for the evening.  Buy a Valentine's apron (top left) to wear in the kitchen.  Print out a menu card letting him see what the meal will be.  After dinner, you can watch a movie.  Print out a card that gives him two options to choose from.  Throw in a pair of heart socks to wear during the movie.  After the movie, find some fun "love" games to play and top it off with some bath salts to get in the mood.  The Pioneer Woman has a good list of adult games.  Target tends to carry a few items as well.  I like to add small foam hearts on the sides for a nice visual.  They are from The Dollar Tree (grab them soon, for they sell out quickly).

Two more ideas for a spouse - boyfriend - teen son is cologne or any tech item.  The Versace cologne is a really pretty teal color, so I opted to have the dividers blend with the white tissue and then use a blue-based tissue to tie it in.  If you are planning on getting your spouse a new or updated phone, AirPods, Kardia Mobile (good "heart" tie-in)...anything, use the dividers to disguise it.  You can leave the item alone, or add more items to create a full box.

 Tween - Teen Bestie Box

Tween-Teen girls love to do special things for their Bestie.  Oh my goodness, making a box specifically for her friend could be a whole experience.  Take her shopping anywhere that carries themed items.  It does not have to be expensive.  She knows her friend the best and would have sooo much fun putting this together.  I like this pink and red combination, but anything would work.  The Dollar Tree has a 2-pack of plush animals that are for best friends (one for each).  They also have heart string lights that would be cute to hang in her room. Target has some really cute matching necklaces and bracelets that are meant for best friends to share.  Visit your local boutique to see what they carry as well.  This box could also be a really cute gift to make for your young daughter or granddaughter.

Boyfriend - Young Girl

The box below on the left would be a really fun gift to give your teenage boyfriend.  Bake him his favorite cookies.  A pair of fashion socks.  Gift cards to your favorite spots to hangout (FroYo, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A.  He would love any form of chocolate and candy as well.

The box on the right is another example of an adorable gift box for a special girl in your life.  Roll up money.  Lip balms.  Heart shaped high-lighters.  Hair accessories.  Comfy socks.  Even if the items are not Valentine's themed, stick with the pinks, reds and whites to tie them in.

Young Boy

Boys are a bit harder for me to find really cute gift items.  One thing is for sure, they love candy and cookies.  Target has small Etch-A-Sketch toys that even my teenage boys wanted to play with.  Small containers of play dough would be cute to add as well.  You can find them at many stores.  A pack of crayons would be fun.  You could even place a coloring book on top of the gift items before closing up the box.  Little boys love cars and trucks.  Place a Hot Wheels car in one of the sections.  One trick I use when assembling my boxes is if the packaging has a flat "card stock" rim, you can stick the flat part under the dividers so it does not take up too much space.  Or you can remove the car from the packaging.  The car in this box is a Minecraft truck.  So many options!  Click here to watch a time-lapse video assembling this box.

As you can see, there are many different ways to create a thoughtful gift box for Valentine's Day.  It truly is the perfect holiday to show someone you care.  If you need to mail your gift, the dividers are a great packaging tool that will hold your items in place.

You can literally copy these layouts and items, or use these as inspiration to create your own.  You know your people and what they like.  Packaging a gift like this lets YOU control what goes inside a gift box AND looks much nicer than piled all on top of each other in a gift bag.  Red, white or clear dividers would be good colors to use for your Valentine's Day packaging.  Each divider set comes with 12 dividers (4 varying lengths) and a storage box.  You can choose if you want to include a shirt box.  Learn more and shop dividers at www.disguisethesurprise.com.

The dividers can also be used for retail packaging.  Package a box with items currently in your store and put it on display.  This is a low-cost way to bundle existing items and easily put them on display.   Create a unique box for any event or holiday throughout the year.  Please reach out if you have any questions.

Taking the time to do something special for someone can have a big impact.  Have fun watching her open that special piece of jewelry you gave her, or watching someone open a thoughtful gift box filled with LOVE that you made.  Either way, the reaction will feel really good.

Happy Valentine's Day!
